Incurably Wonderful

Innovative Solutions for Incurably Wonderful Consulting

Lady sat on her mobility scooter. She wears stripped white and blue trousers and and a white top.

Who is behind Incurably Wonderful Consulting?

This work started with real life, not a business plan.

I have spent years navigating chronic illness and disability as a housebound and ambulatory mobility scooter user. This experience is the foundation of every piece of work delivered through Incurably Wonderful.

This means I have personally experienced the other side of the systems I now advise on: disclosing to employers, working out what support would actually help, waiting on decisions, and repeatedly explaining the same reality to new people. This consultancy grew out of frustration with systems that weren't designed with disabled people in mind, and with organisations that still get things wrong even when they mean well. In addition to my extensive lived experience, I bring the following skills:

  • Academic rigour — I hold a Master’s in Disability Studies      with distinction, and an understanding of disability from a disability-justice      perspective.

  • Governance experience — I sit as a governor of the Liverpool      University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and a member on the Liverpool      City Region Combined Authority Disability Panel. All this gives me a real      role in shaping policy and an understanding of how official decisions are      made.

  • Frontline knowledge — As founder and director of Incurably      Wonderful CIC, I have spent years actively working with patient groups to      amplify disabled voices and ensure disability needs are met in health      services.

  • Sector breadth — In my role as a disability advocate on      multiple public bodies, I speak to health services, universities, local      councils, business groups and more, gaining a wide array of experience and      an understanding of a wide range of organisations.

  • Community roots — Deep connections in disability and      chronic illness community, nationwide, built over the years. My work has      been widely recognised and I have been awarded a BBC Make a Difference      Award (Highly Commended) and a Hope Star Award.

Who this is for

I work well with organisations that want to move beyond paper compliance towards sustainable, working practice. I work well with individuals who want honest, practical, personalised support that will provide results over the the long-term. I do not provide legal or clinical advice.

If this sounds like the right fit, get in touch — no pressure, no obligation
